Negative Self-Reference
Negative self-reference is a trick of language, where the state of something (true or false) is dependent on its own negation. This results in the paradox where true equals false, and is therefore not possible. The best example of this is:
"This statement is false."
Here it is quite obvious that the statement contains its own negative truth value. In comparison, consider the inverse:
"This statement is true."
We have no problem here, since the self-reference is positive.
