Old God

The entity historically referred to as God, here labeled old God since God has been redefined by me, has often been invoked to explain Existence and other phenomena.

However, in most cases, old God has negative explanatory power. Using old God to explain something may clarify that specific phenomenon, but it also necessitates explaining old God. Since old God is conceived as greater than all things, explaining it is a more complex task than explaining the initial phenomenon.

When applied to Existence itself, some might argue old God could provide an explanation. However, the issue remains: one must then explain old God, which offers no advantage compared to explaining Existence.

And if old God were greater than Existence, this would imply old God is literally nothing. A part cannot be greater than the whole. For something to be greater than Existence, it must exist outside of it—hence, it would not exist at all.

Since we also have no evidence for the existence of such a being, and are quite capable of exploring Existence without invoking it, the reasonable course of action is to discard the concept of old God.
